If You Ever is very unique in that it's the only song on the CD that was recorded with Vinyl effects to give it a 50s-ish vibe.
I was driving from Ocala, FL to Orlando in January 2009, and I started thinking about relationships with family members and friends...as well as situations where people need to find motivation, courage, and inspiration to make the 'next step' in their lives.
So during that 90 minute drive on the Florida Turnpike I wrote this song on my iPhone notepad...and probably pissed off dozens of drivers in the process as I drove, typed, and swerved my way to Orlando.
This song represents 4 different conversations with 4 different people. But each conversation has 1 thing in common. I ask each person...
IF YOU EVER
"If you ever see
A cross-roads in your path
Be sure to weigh to all
And don’t you be afraid"
If you ever reflect
To the way it use to be
Do those memories make you smile
Or make you unhappy.
With all
The games
I played...
Didn't mean to hurt ya babe.
If you ever rethink
Rethink the steps you've made
Impulses you've had
And times you could have tried
To make
A love
Of me...
And if
I ever
Know
Only then will
I begin
To grow.
If you ever believe
You will never hit the ground
Your hopes and soul will sore
And you won't have a thing
Nothing
Nothing
Just a fool to adore.
If you ever appear
Appear outside my door
I'd give you my soul
Give you anything you want.
You want
Don't stomp
My heart.
And if
I ever
Know
Only then will
I begin
To grow.
If you ever see
A cross-roads in your path
Be sure to weigh it all
And don't you be afraid.
To make
Mistakes
At least...
You had the courage to try.
